William Welchman
William Welchman (1866–1954) was Archdeacon of Bristol〔(Google )〕 from 1927 to 1937.〔''Ecclesiastical News'' The Times (London, England), Thursday, 25 November 1937; pg. 19; Issue 47851〕
Welchman was born in Cullompton 〔‘WELCHMAN, Ven. William’, Who Was Who, A & C Black, an imprint of Bloomsbury Publishing plc, 1920–2008; online edn, Oxford University Press, December 2012 ; online edn, November 2012 (accessed 27 April 2013 )〕
and educated at Queens' College, Cambridge. He was ordained after a period of study at Ridley Hall, Cambridge in 1891.〔Crockford's Clerical Directory 1929–30 Oxford, OUP, 1929, p. 1374〕 After a curacy at St Paul’s, Leamington Spa〔(Church web site )〕 he was a missionary in Ceylon from 1892 to 1899. He was the Vicar of Fishponds, Bristol from 1901 to 1907; and of Temple Church in the same city until 1941.
